cost of life...
Looking at those stern and proud to live in the main city or your are one of ’em? Well in any case you should be familiar with… um, where the price tag is lined with anything you do. YEAH, anything! This is quite fun and warning topic to go about when moving or questioning ‘to stay or not to stay’ in the epicentre.
Well, first lets snuff or count all the pros and cons and get a “real deal” about big cites. I would pick most known so far…
SO…
Paris ‘ahh to see it and die….those tiny streets, this tempting morning odor of croissant and baguette… what a luck to be living here’;
Moscow ‘oh this one packed with money and power‘;
Saint Petersburg‘ One… two… three…Stendhal syndrome to thee‘ …;
Tokyo ‘ the paradise of culture, ethics, patheeee…tic tics, um anime parties ‘;
Los Angeles ‘ beach all year round‘, ‘Silicon valley where we get “wowley-dowley“;
New York ‘big apple to dabble‘ , ‘big life starts here…‘;
Seoul ‘will set you to rule’ ;
Beijing and Shanghai ‘chosen ones…’ er what with rhyme?
The irony is that once you in the main city, your enthusiasm or affection– you name it — for that city usually would just dash away in a few months if not in days… ok ok, for some even in hours ; the buildings would look like the bricks of some industrial hub, full of moody workers that bump at you in the morning ‘no sorry to worry’ , everything around rushing piling more and more stress on you. In the end of a day, week, month… you would just crave for basic needs : Eat, sleep,…er rave repeat…
What will you dream of once you get YOUR DREAM WORK?:
To finally have a shower?…Or get to your bed to rest?…Or tearing off your clothes?…Or crave some yummy food?…Or CRUSHING YOUR OFFICE &PUNCHING YOUR BOSS and TAKE OFF FOR GOOD!
The Cost in average( for one person) per month (2024 year):
- In New York (comfortable wage) :138,570 $ a year , so thats about 11547 $ for a month (minus $4000 for rent, per month) or let say about $1,700… as it mentioned here for
- In Los Angeles (without rent) would be about $1,345…for
- In Paris (without rent ) would be €1,094 ($1,189.19 )…for
- In London (without rent) would be about £1,076 ($1,396.80) …for
- In Moscow (without rent) would be about Rub 57,864 ($591.89)… for
- In Seoul ( without rent) would be about ₩1,577,346 ($1,139) …for
- In Shanghai (without rent) would be about ¥4,558 ($640.09)…for
- In Beijing (without rent)would be about ¥4,381 ($615,23)…for
- In Tokyo (without rent)would be about ¥148,198.3 ($969.94)…for
Main problems
- Housing: too expensive, too noisy, too complicated…
- Parking : too full and too expensive
- Too Crowded: on the street, in the store, in public transport, in cafe/restaurant/ club…
- Risking the invasion or terrorist attack: to be the first city on the military target map
- Low quality of groceries, like a “plastic in a can” : goods are mostly imported from outside and you would just buy an apple with a chemical tint on it…shiny tint 😀 (preservation)
- “Rip off” in medical sector: insurance, cosmetic surgeries, and dental treatment double the cost in province
- Tech Savvy — CCTV cameras gotcha for all the minor deeds you do, like when parking quickly at a wrong place, or accidentally trowing a snack package on the street,… be sure fees would fill up your mailbox.
Good sides
- High wages: for any work you should — ok, MUST — get payed way more than country’s average $
- Convenient when travel: Main airports and train stations are here, heading to wherever you want. And funny note: its cheaper, even way cheaper, ‘departing’ or ‘arriving’ the capital
- Comfortable to walk around: Parks, Gardens, Shops, Pharmacies, Hospitals, Roads for biking,…um pet walking (have no pets, hard for me to say on it)
- Safer playgrounds for kids and for athletes as well
- Financially supported: roads, metro, and other city projects would be actively supervised and controlled, then delivered on time…ahem, at somewhat time — no project was ever finished on time ( first given date) and on budget (1st given
- All tools to ease life: bank systems, wifi, mobile connection, and other technology … Well, could be a big (-) who want to leave in quite zone
- Advanced transport system: lots of buses, taxies, scooters, and trains. Fast and quite safe
- Outstanding catering: too many food restaurants/cafes, multicultural cuisines , 24/7 food delivery, clubs, festivals, and other cool cultural events and celebrations
- All main HQ : can reach any main offices you need to send document, country’s consulate(any), and more
